Gardens By The Bay is located in the heart of Singapore and is one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore! It is a must visit on your Singapore trip. The gardens are stunning and probably unlike anywhere else you have ever been before!
You could easily spend several hours exploring Gardens By The Bay – there’s a lot to see and do here!
Gardens By The Bay encompasses a large area and within the gardens you’ll find The Supertree Grove and 3 indoor conservatories: Cloud Forest, Flower Dome and Floral Fantasy.
The Supertree Grove – which is where the Light Show takes place, is free to enter. It is the most impressive and well-known part of Gardens By The Bay, with some of the Supertrees reaching as high as 50 metres tall! Standing underneath the giant supertrees feels so surreal – you feel so tiny and like you’re in Avatar! There is so much greenery surrounding the supertrees: it is really idyllic and you can get some fantastic pictures here.
There is an admission price for the three indoor conservatories – you can buy the e-tickets cheaper online here and avoid the ticket queues!
How To Get To Gardens By The Bay
Gardens By The Bay are located right next to the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel.
Taking a taxi is the quickest way to get here, however the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) – which is the metro/tube system in Singapore, is very convenient, cheap, efficient and easy to use. If you buy a Singapore Tourist Pass (available at most MRT stations and at Changi Airport Automated STP Kiosks) you can get unlimited travel on the MRT for one, two or three days ($10, $16 and $20 respectively).
The nearest MRT station to Gardens By The Bay is Bayfront: it takes just a couple of minutes to walk from Bayfront station to Gardens By The Bay. There are lots of signs to direct you to Gardens By The Bay from Bayfront MRT so just follow them – they’ll take you through Marina Bay Sands Hotel and across the Marina Bay Overpass bridge to the entrance of Gardens By The Bay.
If you buy the Singapore Hop On Hop Off Open Top Bus tickets, they will also drop you off right outside Gardens By The Bay.
If you plan to use taxis, use the ‘Grab’ app (South East Asia’s equivalent of Uber) or normal street taxis – they usually charge similar prices.
As the gardens are next to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel you can get a stunning view of the iconic hotel as well as the Singapore Flyover from Gardens By The Bay – see the photo below!

Be sure to visit The Supertree Grove once the sun has set in the evening and the Supertrees start to light up. Watch the fascinating Light and Sound Show, known as Garden Rhapsody, where the Supertrees light up in harmony to lots of iconic songs.
The best way to experience it is to lie under one of the towering Supertrees and relax as you experience the show. The performance and songs are different every time so many people even choose to go back a second night to watch the show again!
Gardens By The Bay Light Show Time
Daily at 7.45pm and 8.45pm
The Gardens By The Bay Light & Sound Show happens twice every evening: at 7.45pm and 8.45pm and lasts for 15 minutes.
During holiday periods there are often more shows than this.
As this is one of the best attractions in Singapore, it can be busy here and so it’s good to arrive early to get a good spot! However, the gardens are so big that it doesn’t feel crowded. Plus, if you just lie underneath one of the trees to watch the show, you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away: it’s so relaxing!
Once the last show is over, the gardens empty pretty quickly so if you hang around a little you can get some nice night photographs of the Supertrees lit up without the crowds in. The gardens actually close at 2am so you can take your time strolling around afterwards – it is very safe here!
There are also lots of places nearby to go for dinner.

Even though Singapore can be expensive, it’s great that the Light Show at Gardens By The Bay is free. Even if you are exploring Singapore on a budget you can still enjoy lots that this city has to offer.
Visiting The Supertree Grove At Gardens By The Bay During The Day
The super trees are equally impressive during the day as well as at night so I highly recommend you to see them in the day as well as lit up at night.
Just like when you visit The Supertree Grove at Gardens By The Bay during the night for the Light Show, The Supertree Grove is also completely free to visit during the day.
It’s best to visit early in the morning when the weather is cooler, and also as there are less crowds at this time, which makes it feel like you have the whole place to yourself! Plus if you plan to visit any of the indoor conservatories they will be a lot quieter first thing in the morning!
The Supertree Grove is open from 5am – great if you are an early riser! Cloud Forest, Flower Dome and Floral Fantasy however all open at 9am. The Cloud Forest holds the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and the Flower Dome is the world’s largest glass greenhouse. Both are absolutely amazing – see the pictures below!
