How To Get To Munduk Moding Plantation Resort

Located in North Bali, it takes roughly 2.5 hours to drive to Munduk Moding Plantation from Denpasar Airport.

The journey is around 80 km, but if you want to break up the journey, there are many beautiful waterfalls, rice terraces and temples you can stop at along the way.

You can either hire a rental car, get a Grab taxi or hire a local driver arranged through the hotel to get there.

Arriving at Munduk Moding Plantation

Munduk Moding Plantation Resort is located in the cool mountainous area of North Bali, about 1,230 metres above sea level.

This means the climate is a lot cooler up here, which is often a very much welcome break for those who are tired of the heat and humidity on the beaches in the south of Bali and the more touristy areas!

From the minute you arrive at Munduk Moding Plantation you’ll be greeted with warm Balinese hospitality.

You’ll be treated to a welcome drink before being taken to your room or villa in a golf buggy! The resort sits on 6 hectares so it’s spread out!

Room types

There are a variety of luxury accommodation options at Munduk Moding Plantation, from Garden Suites and one bedroom villas – perfect for couples or those travelling solo, to the two bedroom, three bedroom and even five bedroom villa – perfect for families and groups of friends!

Some of the villas even come with their own pool, so there’s a type of accommodation for everyone here – just book whichever you think is best for you!

Just remember to book in advance as there are only a few villas/suites here, so the resort does get booked out!

Ideally you’ll want to spend 2 nights here to enjoy the resort and the surrounding area. We only stayed for one night and it just wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy the resort as well as all the incredible sights nearby!

All the suites and villas have incredible views of the valley and are surrounded by lush greenery. They all have their own driveway too and are really spaced out away from each other so they offer complete privacy.

You don’t even see your neighbours, which is great so you can really disconnect and relax!

One Bedroom Pool Villa With Jacuzzi

We stayed in a one bedroom pool villa with jacuzzi which was just stunning. Inside, it is decorated in traditional Balinese style yet still very modern, and the villa was really spacious.

We had a generous sized bedroom complete with a four poster bed, as well as a large bathroom with a skylight and stand-alone bathtub.

The separate living/dining room area was complete with a fireplace, daybed, mini library and dining area, and opened out onto our own jacuzzi and heated infinity pool overlooking the rolling hills, which was amazing.

There were also sunbeds and a large covered daybed for us to enjoy by the pool. There was definitely everything we needed to have a comfortable stay!

It was so great having our own pool, and I loved how not only the jacuzzi, but the pool was heated too! So even on a chilly day you can enjoy the pool!

Personal Butler Service

Some villas at Munduk Moding Plantation come with a personal butler included, which is a really nice touch and helps to make your stay even more smooth and luxurious.

Our villa (Bamboo Petung) came with a butler, and the service actually came in so useful!

If you need anything, just send a Whatsapp message to your butler and they’ll respond to you swiftly and help with whatever you need (wifi all throughout the resort is excellent).

We ordered afternoon tea and room service through our butler, as well as arranging our floating breakfast, and pick-up of our suitcases for check-out.

As the temperatures at Munduk Moding Plantation can be a lot cooler, especially at night, there are fireplaces in the villas, so you can ask your butler to prepare the fire for you in the evening if you wish!

We got our butler to light our fireplace, and the villa felt so romantic and cosy with the fire burning!

You can also contact your butler to arrange any activities or drivers/transfers for you.

Our villa was located very close to the infinity pool and restaurant so it just took a couple of minutes to walk there, but some are a lot further away, in which case you can just Whatsapp your butler to move you around the resort in the golf buggy.

I was surprised actually how handy the butler service came in, and it really made our stay exceptional.

We also asked our butler to deliver rose petals to our villa so we could make a flower bath in our bathtub – and within a few minutes he arrived with a giant bag of red rose petals!

There are plenty of candles in the bathroom, so it felt like a really relaxing spa experience in the comfort of our own bathroom!

The service of our butler was honestly fantastic. He was the main staff member we dealt with during our time at Munduk Moding Plantation, he always greeted us with a smile and was always happy to assist us in whichever way possible.

Facilities At Munduk Moding Plantation

Infinity Pools

Even if you have your own villa with private pool, you’ll definitely want to spend some time at the main infinity pool that Munduk Moding Plantation is famous for – it’s been voted one of the best in the world, the views are just insane!

infinity pool at Munduk Moding Plantation Resort North Bali

In fact, there’s not just one infinity pool here, but two! The second one is a little bit hidden which is great – you’ll only see it if you walk down the steps or peer over the edge of the first pool!

These infinity pools are iconic, with the most incredible panoramic views of the rolling hills and rainforest.

You absolutely can’t leave without getting your photo at the edge of the pool, otherwise have you really been to Munduk Moding Plantation?!

As the pool is high above sea level and it’s often cloudy here, you’ll feel like you’re in the clouds which is an unforgettable experience!

The weather in Munduk does actually change very quickly – one minute its sunny, and the next it’s cloudy and rainy.

The great thing however is that the clouds move so quickly here so the landscape is constantly changing and every sunrise and sunset is different!

The sunrises and sunsets are pretty spectacular from the infinity pool, with the colours reflecting in the pool, so make sure you’re there for at least one of them! When I visited at sunrise I was the only person there!

Plus, it’s actually surprisingly easy to walk along the edge of the infinity pool – a lot easier than I imagined! There’s a ledge about 20 cm wide on the edge of the pool for you to walk on.

Even though the infinity pool at Munduk Moding Plantation is a well-known Bali Instagram spot, it’s only accessible to guests staying overnight at the hotel, so it’s never busy which is great.

If you just come for lunch or for a coffee plantation tour, you won’t be allowed access to the pool – so if you’re desperate for Munduk Moding’s infinity pool experience you need to stay overnight!

There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas around the infinity pools for you to relax and soak up the gorgeous views. Plus, there’s a poolside bar to grab some drinks or snacks, as well as a hot tub between the two infinity pools.
