If it’s stunning beaches surrounded by impressive cliffs and turquoise waters that you’re after when you’re in Bali, then you’ll want to stay in Uluwatu – home to world famous surfing, beach clubs, plenty of places to eat and relax, and a much more pleasant pace of life than Canggu.
Just 700 metres from Bingin Beach – one of the most popular beaches in Uluwatu, lies the stylish Ronja Boutique Hotel. Ronja is a great place and it’s located in a very convenient location to base yourself when exploring southern Bali.
Offering a comfortable and tranquil escape surrounded by Mexican inspired architecture and decor, Ronja is an ideal choice of accommodation in Uluwatu to stay at if you’re after both relaxation and exploring!

We recently spent a couple of nights at Ronja – here’s all you need to know about the hotel and what to do in the surrounding area!

How To Get To Ronja Boutique Hotel
The easiest way to get to Ronja Boutique Hotel is by Grab taxi. The hotel is located in a quiet area of Bingin, Uluwatu – just off Jalan Tj. Simah.
Ronja is 26 kilometers south of Bali’s International Airport (DPS). Bali traffic means it can take around 45 minutes to reach the hotel from the airport, or 1.5 hours if coming from Canggu.

Staying At Ronja Boutique Hotel
Our stay at Ronja was so lovely. The modern, minimalist yet spacious design of the rooms created such a relaxing atmosphere that made it so easy to unwind.

The interiors were really fresh, and I love how the morning light reflected onto the walls in the bedrooms.

And with straw roofs and our balcony door opening right out onto the swimming pool offering us direct pool access – it almost felt like we were in an overwater bungalow, like the ones you find in Fiji or The Maldives!

It was amazing to just wake up and enjoy the views of the swimming pool from the comfort of your bed, dip your toes in while sat on your terrace – or go straight in for a swim!

The swimming pool is surrounded by lots of lush greenery and there are several sun loungers for you to unwind in.

There’s also a giant floating bean bag in the pool for you to lie on and relax, as well as ledges in the pool so you can sit or lie in the pool which is great on those hot days!

Ronja features just 7 suites: some can sleep 2 people whereas others can sleep up to 4 people.
The ones that can sleep up to 4 people don’t have direct pool access, but they have an upstairs, a private garden, a terrace and their own mini pool!
With just 7 suites, you’ll want to book in advance to reserve your spot! Note also that Ronja is an adults only hotel, so no families allowed.

The staff at Ronja were very helpful – serving us a complimentary welcome drink on the first evening, and Rita the manager was very accommodating.

Food & Drink
As there isn’t a restaurant on-site, breakfast isn’t included at Ronja. Ronja does however have a bar where you can sit and relax and order a variety of drinks, whether its a coffee, a wine, or a coconut!

Alternatively, Ronja is just a 5 minute walk to lots of great cafes and restaurants! We walked to the nearby Loft Cafe each morning and had a delicious brunch there – the vibes and the menu are so good!
Nearby Attractions
Ronja is in a really great location, we absolutely loved how it was just a short walk away from some of the best surfing beaches on the island – that have the bluest water!
A short drive away you’ll also find beautiful temples, famous sculptures and some epic Instagram spots – there are so many things to see in Uluwatu!

Here are some great spots that Ronja is close to, and are definitely worth exploring when you’re here:
Bingin Beach
Bingin Beach is less than a 5 minute drive from Ronja Boutique Hotel, or a pleasant 15 minute stroll. This is the closest beach to Ronja, and it’s stunning!
The waters here are so clear, and there is a lovely chilled vibe on this beach. Go snorkelling, enjoy food at one of the beachfront local warungs with great views, or just sit on the beach and watch the surfers!
Padang Padang Beach
Padang Padang is another stunning beach – also within walking distance of Ronja, that is known for its beautiful scenery and surf-friendly waves.
It is probably the most popular beach in the Uluwatu area, but definitely one of the most beautiful, as well as the most accessible, so it’s worth a visit! It’s also a great spot to enjoy the sunset.

Thomas Beach
Thomas Beach is a hidden gem to visit nearby, but make sure you visit at mid or high tide when it is at its most beautiful! It just isn’t the same at low tide.

Dreamland Beach

Dreamland Beach is a lovely beach full of lots of atmosphere. Despite not being the most Instagrammable beach in Uluwatu, it was actually probably our favourite!
It had a really nice vibe and we could just sit at the local warung watching all the surfers catching the waves.
Uluwatu Temple
A visit to Uluwatu Temple is a must when in the area, and it’s just a 15 minute drive from Ronja Boutique Hotel.
This famous cliffside temple is perched on the edge of a cliff and has breathtaking ocean views. It’s known for its spectacular location, stunning sunsets, as well as the traditional Kecak dance performed every evening.
Karang Boma Cliff
A 10 minute drive from Uluwatu Temple brings you to Karang Boma Cliff – a relaxing spot to watch the sunset and admire Uluwatu Temple from a distance.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park
A 30 minute drive from Ronja will take you to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park – home to the impressive statue of Vishnu riding Garuda. The statue is so big that you can see even from as far away as Canggu’s beaches!

Tanah Barak Cliff
Also a 30 minute drive from Ronja, on the southern side of Uluwatu you’ll find one of the most unique and totally Instagrammable spots in Uluwatu!
The road leading down to Tanah Barak Beach and Pandawa Beach is so impressive – it cuts through a big cliff and makes for some fantastic photos!
Final Thoughts On Staying At Ronja Boutique Hotel
Ronja Boutique Hotel is a great spot to stay in Uluwatu if you want to be near the action, yet you also want to feel like you’re in your own peaceful tropical paradise.
Whether you’re looking to surf, explore the cultural sites, eat your way through all the cafes or simply relax on the beach, Ronja offers a comfortable, modern and luxurious place to base yourself for your south Bali adventure.
We had such a great time here and definitely recommend it!
