UPRISING BEACH RESORT FIJI – BEST AFFORDABLE PACIFIC HARBOUR ACCOMMODATION!
Why You Should Stay At Uprising Beach Resort:
Beachfront Bures & Villas
Uprising Beach Resort has two types of private accommodation: the traditional Fijian Bures (bungalows) and the Villas.

Bure

Villa
You can choose for your Bure or Villa to have either Beachfront or Garden views. We stayed in a Beachfront Villa and we just loved waking up to the sound of the waves and being able to enjoy the view of the ocean from our terrace.
The beachfront villas and bures are right on the beach with just a few coconut trees and a small lawn separating you from the beach. The garden bures and villas however are right behind the beachfront ones so still a very easy and quick walk to the beach!
I definitely recommend getting a beachfront Bure or Villa if possible – they are a little bit more expensive than the garden view bures and villas but I think it is worth it for the view!
All the bures and the villas are really spacious and come with a kitchenette, bathroom, a separate outdoor shower and a spare single bed in addition to the main double bed.
However the villas are bigger and have a separate living room area, as well as a desk and a TV, a jetted bath tub, a larger bathroom and a larger outdoor decking area facing the beach so are perfect if you want a little more space and to feel like you are in an actual villa house!
We really loved the outdoor tropical showers at Uprising – it definitely gave me Bali vibes!
There are only a total of 23 bures and villas, which is nice as it gives the resort an intimate vibe and means it isn’t too big. Plus it means it is easy to get from one end of the resort to another!
Treehouse Dormitory
If you are backpacking around Fiji and are on a budget, Uprising Beach Resort also has a 20-bed dormitory located a little bit further back from the beach.
The dormitory has a large balcony as well as lockers, changing rooms and separate sex showers.
Dorm beds are a modest $65 per person per night.
Beachfront Location
Uprising Beach Resort lies on a beautiful long sandy private beach lined with coconut trees that is known as Palm Beach.
The hotel grounds are located right next to the beachfront and there are lovely views from the beach overlooking nearby Beqa Island and Beqa Lagoon.
You can stroll along the beach all the way to Pacific Harbour Local Beach and up towards Pearl Resort. Plus as the beach is south facing you can see some fantastic sunrises and sunsets here!
The beach here at Uprising Beach Resort is the best beach near to Suva. The water is lovely to swim in and it is a really beautiful beach, so it’s a popular resort for expats and locals living in Suva to visit for the weekend.
As it’s a sandy beach there aren’t snorkelling opportunities, however there are opportunities for day trips snorkelling if you wish – Fiji is famous for it’s snorkelling and is known as the soft coral capital of the world!
Despite being by the beach, Uprising Beach Resort is also surrounded by so much green foliage and the grounds are full of tropical plants which was really lovely. The grounds are actually very large so there are plenty spots if you wish to go off and relax in private.
Amenities At Uprising Beach Resort
Wifi is available in the communal areas at Uprising – reception and at the bar/restaurant area. There are also a few sofas and tables here so you can sit with your laptop and do any work if necessary.
The complimentary Continental Breakfast includes tea, coffee, orange juice, toast, pastries, muffins, cereals and fresh fruit and was definitely enough to keep me going until lunch! Cooked breakfasts are also available for an additional charge and they taste really good too!
Use of kayaks is free, and there are also plenty of sun loungers for you to relax in next to the pool!
Restaurant
The food at Uprising Beach Resort open air restaurant is so good – better than many places I visited in Fiji!
Expect the likes or pizzas, fish and chips, stir fry, burgers, pasta, sandwiches and grilled fish on the menu for lunch.
On the dinner menu there are some more traditional Fijian recipes. For your starter make sure to try the kokoda (pronounced ‘kokonda’) which is basically Fijian ceviche. And for mains have the Fijian curry – it is so delicious! Curry is always really good in Fiji due to the large Indian population here, but the curry here at Uprising was probably the best I have ever tasted!

Traditional Kokoda (Fijian ceviche) with plantain chips
Food is served pretty much all day at the restaurant until 9pm in the evening and prices are standard resort meal prices that you will find in Fiji.
The staff at the restaurant and bar are really friendly and accommodating. Plus – happy hour is every day from 5-7pm and there are often themed nights such as Ladies Night!
Water Activities
Uprising Beach Resort has a lovely pool, plus there are complimentary kayaks you can use to go for a paddle in the sea. Life jackets are provided if necessary.
If you are brave enough, Uprising Beach Resort can also help you book your diving trip to the world famous Beqa Lagoon (pronounced ‘benga’) where you can do uncaged diving with tiger sharks! It has been described by many people as the best shark dive in the world!

Friendly Atmosphere & Communal Area
There is plenty of communal space at Uprising where you can choose to sunbathe, read in the shade or even have a game of Beach Volleyball as there is a volleyball net right next to the beach!
There is also a pool table in the bar area, and the bar staff are always up for a chat! Uprising Beach Resort attracts a wide variety of guests, from couples to groups and international travellers and Fijians coming for the weekend.
Plus, the rugby field where the Fiji Rugby Team plays is just behind Uprising! They play here (and stay here!) quite regularly so you’ll often hear the sounds of cheers when they are playing so try and head down to watch – rugby is absolutely huge in Fiji!

Uprising is located in a very convenient location – in Pacific Harbour which is known as the Adventure Capital of Fiji. Pacific Harbour is located on the southern part of Fiji’s main island Viti Levu and is a very popular tourist spot in Fiji!

You can also go river tubing and visit a traditional village in the highlands in nearby Navua with River Tubing Fiji, go on a day trip to the nearby stunning Yanuca Island or even go zip lining or white water rafting! Uprising Beach Resort is located is a very convenient location if you wish to do any of these activities in Pacific Harbour.
The reception staff at Uprising Beach Resort are very helpful and can help you organise your daily activities and excursions if you wish. They also have a taxi company based at Uprising so you can always get a taxi quickly if you need.
Uprising Beach Resort sits on 2km of beautiful beachfront, surrounded by tropical palm trees. A 15 minute walk will take you to the Pacific Harbour Arts Centre, which is where the supermarket and shops in Pacific Harbour are located. Although there is everything you need at Uprising Beach Resort that you won’t even need to leave if you don’t want to!
Island Night At Uprising Beach Resort Fiji
Uprising Beach Resort also hosts the famous Island Night every Thursday evening, which is really popular and also brings in lots of visitors, expats and locals for the evening. Island Night consists of a traditional Fijian dinner and a Fire Show and Polynesian dancing.
From 6pm a grand buffet dinner is served – including local Fijian favourites such as kokodo (Fijian ceviche) and lobo – (meat that been cooked underground to give it more flavour – if you have stayed overnight in a desert camp in Wadi Rum, Jordan or tasted ‘hangi’ in Rotorua, New Zealand it’s a similar style of cooking), as well as many other options – including several yummy local desserts!
A local live band plays in the background and there is also a kava bowl nearby. Kava is the traditional drink of Fiji so you must try it at least once whilst you are in Fiji!
Then from 7pm the show starts. Male and female dancers will perform several dances from different Pacific Islands such as Hawaii, Tahiti and Fiji as well.
Then after this they will do the famous Fire Dance. It is absolutely spectacular and very impressive to watch!
I definitely recommend trying to ensure you stay over at Uprising Beach Resort on a Thursday night to experience Island Night. Prices are $49 per person for the unlimited buffet and desserts and dance show and it is so fun!
How To Get To Uprising Beach Resort
Pacific Harbour is on the Queens Road – the main road between Suva and Nadi. It is about one hour west of Suva and 3 hours east of Nadi.
The easiest way to get to Uprising Beach Resort is by taxi, however it is also extremely easy to get here on public transport too.
The public buses and minibuses from both Nadi and Suva go right past Uprising Beach Resort. Just tell the driver you want to get off at Uprising and they will stop at the side of the road and wait fo you to get off.
Is Uprising Beach Resort Environmentally Friendly?
Staying at places that are environmentally friendly is incredibly important to us so we were really pleased to learn that Uprising Beach Resort is 100% carbon neutral.
Uprising Beach Resort partnered with Mangroves For Fiji to achieve their status as a 100% carbon neutral resort, which involves planting a sizeable amount of mangroves to offset their daily emissions.
Uprising Beach Resort also encourages guests to assist and in turn reduce their carbon footprint, by collecting mangrove seeds (they are brown and around 10cm long) and planting them in the nursery which is located behind the villas, near the Treehouse Dormitory.
Here in the nursery you’ll find many mangrove seeds planted – the ones that have started to grow leaves are ready to be placed in their natural environment by the staff, where they can continue to grow. So far Uprising Beach Resort has assisted with planting over 10,000 mangroves back in the wild!
There is a signboard not far from the nursery with different countries and a number next to the country – this number is the recommended amount of mangrove seedlings that you would need to plant to offset the carbon emitted during your flight to Fiji, depending on which country you flew to Fiji from.
For example if you flew to Fiji from Australia you would need to plant 7 mangrove seedlings. If you flew to Fiji from Sweden you would need to plant a whopping 61 mangrove seedlings!
Uprising Beach Resort also encourages the guests to recycle plastic bottles which was so nice to see. This is actually the only place we saw in Fiji that recycles plastic bottles!
On the Friday morning when we were at Uprising, the Minister of Forestry had organised for children from the local school to come and plant trees at Uprising. It is all part of a Government initiative to plant 1 million trees in Fiji this year to offset climate change.
The children all had a good knowledge of why we need to look after our planet, and were given 75 local trees to plant around the resort. We absolutely loved seeing this and are so glad Fiji is taking climate change seriously.
